Also congrats to Jeff Day on the 2nd annual Highbridge Film Festival held at Asbury College this past weekend. It rocked! Some excellent work by some very talented filmmakers. If you missed it, do yourself a favor and mark your calendars for next year! And Kudos to Chuck Pogue for coming to speak at the festival to some of Jeff's students. I heard great things, Charles...perhaps next year I can convince you to come chat with some of my kids?

Tim, you don't have to twist my arm too hard to come speak. Have Dog and Pony Show, Will Travel.
I had to look this reference up. So, I'll keep it to myself.
We're having a lot of fun with this script, folks. We'd love to have a few familiar faces to play around. How 'bout it, huh?
Thanks for the chance to do this, X. I'm really having a great time. And, damn, I have missed being on stage!
didn't you know someone named dani at one point? or was that jerryho or wavy? anyhoo, since I am stuck in tn., how could I get a look @ the script? I would very much like to at least read it.
Tim, I'll try to make the reading, but I'm on script deadline (It was supposed to be turned in today...but I bled one more day out of it) and I'm just about to go through my final corrections and polish read to get this sucker off tomorrow (I also wouldn't mind chopping another page out of it), but it could be another all-nighter, so, as my days and nights are utterly turned around, I may be in deep sleep by tomorrow evening.
Speaking of the dog and pony, Tim, is Tod Porter still at Kentucky State? I did a guest lecture for him once about ten years ago (a dozen?) when I was here plugging my novel at the Kentucky Book Fair. He did a video hook-up with about a dozen other colleges and high schools and I took questions from schools all over the stage.
or from schools all over the state. As you can see, I'm in fine condition to start proof-reading. More Diet Coke! Caffeine!
Fletch- The only Dani I knew was Dani Cohen, and I din't KNOW her, if you get my meaning. That was our man Dave, I believe...but the script is certainly not about her. I just liked the way it sounded.
Chuck- I'm not sure if Tod is still there or not. I think he was when I started there, but not sure about now. And I'll definitely be taking you up on the D and P show!
Good luck with the new script...
Tim, I hope the reading goes well! Wish I could be there, but we're finalizing things...Aubin's going to check it out, tho!
Bob
Julie Roberts i think? the CD has been in the car for a week now.
Break a leg to night X and cast...once again and need I say it? I wish I was there...but I guess I am there in spirit as I am working a monologue from the show...."Bobbi's"...Break femurs...miss u guys.
Awesome L- Glad you like the piece. I thought you might:)
Your piece is being performed as I type this FROM WORK!! Because of an extremely tight deadline and an extremely bad bug in the system, we are all here burning the midnight oil, as it were. 8-5. 7-God knows when.
If my job (read insurance)didn't ride on the next two days, I'd be there.
I'm sure things are going wonderfully with the great cast you have assembled.
Maybe you can talk to Natasha's about mounting it there. We can chat more about that. MAybe even get a little scratch for your actors.
Later.

What a nice evening! Congrats to X and his able cast, and thanks to AGL for providing the space and opportunity for us to hear new scripts. Really enjoyable!! Chris Rose rocks!
Thanks, Steve and Missy. I was very happy with the response. THis play means alot to me (I don't have too many of them!) and the fact that it was well received made me very happy. I also particularly liked the great Q and A session. Missy, Chuck and Terry Withers, amongst others, had some wonderful comments and gave me some very strong food for thought. Thanks again to all!
If you missed it, you'll get another chance, as Rick has offered to let us workshop the production later this summer !
Stay tuned...
Congrats, Tim, on the reading last night. I found the play dense and rich and ably played. You're an actors' writer...everyone got their moments.
Now I want to hear how you and Tuttle...whose amusing, fine performance in am evening of uniformly fine performance I particularly enjoyed (I've known many Texans Bohemians like his character)..."double-handedly" destroyed Fort Harrod theatre...home of my direct ancestors (there is a Pogue cabin in Harrodsburg...my folks came in with Dan'l Boone and discovered the state. Or rather...to be politically correct...in fine manifest destiny arrogance, wrenched it away from the Indians).
FUnny story that...
Actually, I was being facetious...the last 2 years of it's existence, Mike was the SM (in 03) and the GM (04) and I directed the show both years. Actually, we did a darn fine couple of seasons, if I do say so myself. I was able to bring in actors from LA,Texas, New York, Mississippi, New Mexico and combine with some of the best young actors Central KY had to offer. Unfortunately, it was an issuie of funding. Ft Harrod had been on Life support for YEARS (long before we came into the picture) and their board seemed incapable of doing any real fund raising, thus the theatre went under (It might be added that the last season - 04- we missed 12 nights of performance due to weather. In the previous 10 seasons I don't believe we had missed that many combined!) Mike was a really good GM and shouldn't shoulder any of the blame for what happened (hell, he was only in the chair for a year!) We , however, like to joke that we "sunk the Boone ship" all on our own...too bad, too. Lots of those old outdoor dramas are starting to fold, or getting perilously close to it. I suppose it's just a sign of the times and shitty economy.
btw- THanks for the encouraging words regarding the script. Means alot coming from you, and I appreciate it.
Oh...and remember Tim, all writing is autobiographical. I don't care whether one is writing about talking dragons or seeking "holy grails" in Austin, it's all autobiographical!
"Every man's work is a portrait of himself, and the more he tries to conceal himself the more clearly will his character appear."
-- Samuel Butler --
Anytime I've been around a "Tim X Davis Production" the actors always agree on one thing particularly:
Tim X. Davis gives us cool shit to say.
It was a blast playing with this. Looking forward to more.
BTW, many thanks, Chuck. Nice to know that my 3 months in Texas weren't all wasted.
Chris Eccleston was mentioned here back in the favourite actors thing a week or so ago. I just watched the weirdest movies with him as the star. Also Eddie Izzard & Derek Jacobi. A modern...indeed, futuristic...version of REVENGER'S TRAGEDY by Thomas Middleton (previously incorrectly ascribed to Cyril Tourner) directed by Alex Cox. They seem to be going for a Baz Luhrman/Julie Taymor classics reinterpretation. Certainly interesting.
I am sorry I missed it Tim. I sincerely wish I could have been there, sounds like a promising venture...
