SHOOT OUT THE LIGHTS...

Well, BOWL O RAMA 05 is over and done with (The first ever without a BOONE presence...kinda sad.BUT , there were former Boonies in attendance, such as Shayne B., Chris R., Spencer C., Moi, etc...) and the Lex shakes fest comes away with the win, despite a valiant effort from the ACTORS GUILD team (I even bowled over 160 in one game- tremendous, for me!) Despite the appearance of at least one suspicious character who bowled over a 200 average, I suppose they won it fair and square! Mad props to Hank Layton for setting the whole deal up...we'll get em next year!!!!
So I'll be leaving from Nash-vegas in a few hours, but don't fear loyal readers. There WILL be a Tennessee posting and a BRAND SPANKING NEW question...
Now FOR ANY AND ALL USM DIVAS READING THIS- with the exception of Millsy, Scott Mc and Jen none of you guys are posting. I can surmise that either :
a) You're not coming to check the blog out despite numerous DIVA alerts
b) You're not opinionated enough to comment on anything (NOT LIKELY!!!)
c) You are starting to feel that the whole thing is too LEXINGTON-centric (not the case- we have posters from all over)
d) It's something personal (I certainly hope not!)
e) You , for some reason , feel hesitant to join in the commentary.
I'm gonna assume E is the answer, and just say this: We , especially ME, would love to hear from you. This was started as a forum for YOU GUYS, so we can keep in contact and share ideas and debate a little bit. This is pretty much my last plea to you, as I fear I'm starting to appear desperate, so for the love of God JUMP IN- THE WATERS FINE!!!!! For those of you coming and sharing on a regular basis- keep it up! WE love the chatter here at DIVA clones...so till the next time, PEACE OUT!
btw- points, as always, for the title reference. This ones a little more obscure...

I'm sure that the bowling was fun, but Batman on the IMAX ROCKED MY SOCKS OFF!!! The fanboy in me was giggling like a idiot during almost every scene.
And you know if I WAS there, LSF (can we still call it a Shakespeare festival?) would not have had a chance. Because I would have spiked all of their drinks with GHB, that's why!
It is always good to see the actors in town get together to play and drink but how about going to see each others work?!
For a community of taleted actors (here in LEX-VILLE) we sure seem to stay away from each other's work. Pride? Too cool? Principle? I mean, what the heck? Support your local artist by giving them an audience of artists to play for.
I'm off the soap box now.

Dude, I couldn't have said it better. It has always been a mystery to me (though that fog is lifting a bit) as to why the acting community in this place has seemed so "fractured" since I got here. We must put aside OLD differences and move forward. In this day and age of shrinking everything (audiences, budget, etc) it is incumbent on us as theatre artists to SUPPORT EACH OTHER , petty squabbles be damned!
Okay...so now I'M off the soapbox...any other takers?

I have always wanted to watch a damn movie on IMAX!!!! X, not many white men look sexy with dew rags....but I have to say..."You wear it Well"...okay Mr. Pop Culture..who sings that? I of course didn't bowl...because I had several beers before I got there...and we all know that I'm a light weight. I would have thrown the ball backwards and knocked someone out.

I agree with both of you....we ALL need to start supporting one another...Studio Players, Actor's Guild, Woodford Co, Shakes Fest, Children's theater, Paragon, Natasha's Cafe...etc. I've seen great productions at all of these venues. I certainly enjoy supporting all of my fellow thesps....especially All MY Sons...WOW. Even better the second time around. Adam, you are such a talented man. I CANNOT wait to work with you again. X-man: I hope that I get to act with you one day. You are F'n amazing!!!! I have so much respect for you as an actor. You absolutely broke my heart on Saturday night. You not only had me shedding tears, you had me holding back sobs. The honesty and sensitivity you brought to Joe....truely great work. And Leslie Beatty...WOW!!! Besides Laurie...I've not seen a female actor give such a powerful performance as she. Also, Bob Singleton...there's a guy to work with!!! The guys a class act!! You all should be very proud of yourselves. BTW...Tonda LOVED it!!!

Great example of support: Tonda Fields and Lisa Osterman wanted to come out and support All my Sons because...not only do they enjoy and respect the whole cast's body of work, and are fans of Arthur Miller...but also because, Adam, Tim, Bob, and Kate came to support the Foreigner . It's a great feeling to have other artists come out to see your work, and for us it was a pleasure to come out and watch our comrads perform their asses off. As it turns out Tonda and Lisa loved the show, as well as the performances, and left with tears in their eyes. I think it's very important for everyone to support one another's work. We certainly DO have a very talented pool of artists here.

Tim X, the title reference wouldn't happen to be the famed Richard & Linda Thompson album made as they were going splitsville?

This is my first post. Until now, I've been afraid of the "blogging" technology. I feel that fear of anything called a "blog" is a natural part of life. So, Tim, you need to add another reason for not posting: Kim Dixon may be an idiot.

Also, for the record, there was nobody named "Leslie Beatty" in AGL's ALL MY SONS. You're probably thinking of Juanita Jeter. She was also in DIRTY BLONDE at AGL.

I officially chose not to bowl as I was afraid of lowering AGL's score. Those of you who have seen me bowling know what I mean. I'm really bad.

Everybody have a fun and safe Fourth of July weekend. I'll be in Vermont, the only land-locked New England state, for the whole weekend. Set off a bottle rocket for me!

Natalie Cummins- you are a WINNER!!!!!
(Somehow I knew it'd be you...)
...and Kim, after seeing some of our folks bowl, you could have only been an improvement!

funny kim, i might be going to vermont for 4th weekend. only i know nothing about vermont or where to go...i just like the sound of it.

along the lines of artists supporting eachother and creating a true community - one of the biggest surprises for me upon moving to a place where practically everyone you meet is, was, or wants to be an actor was the huge sense of support and community in the theatre scene. sadly, this had not been the case in the mid-size city i left behind. it was a new and thrilling experience for me, and i began to question why this was so. perhaps because of the sheer numbers people are less competetive with eachother and more with themselves (which is what we should be, really). whatever the case, i'm certain that that supportive community only helps you grow as an actor, and feeling like your fellow actors really want you to "win" and book roles and grow and become freakin amazing is so wonderful that it makes me sad to know that its not that way all over (hell, its not that way by any stretch of the imagination in la or even chicago).

of course, that being said, i still thoroughly rejoiced inwardly when i heard a woman at the audition last night tell another actor that she had no idea how to do a palestinian dialect... i guess the difference is that despite being glad, i still gave her the website address from which to download mp3 samples of dialects from around the world so that she'd be able to tap into that resource for next time.

Yes Kim...You are correct. My bad. It is Juanita Jeter that was in All my Sons and Dirty Blond.

The scene in Lexington could really flourish if people would just relax, let the past be the past (we find it hard to let go of grudges, it seems) and come together as a community of artists for the sake of the craft and the positivity/creativity/intellectual stiulation that theatre can offer the community. As Ben Elton once quipped in the BBC classic The Young Ones, "If the kids are united we will never be divided." Sounds a little corny (and it was meant to be in The Young Ones) but think about it. This is true anywhere but Lexington needs an intervention or we are going to fail.
*Man, I gotta stop sniffing Ajax. TOO HIGH!!!!
