let's see... the last music I listened to on sirius was a 1978 Springsteen show from, I believe, Trenton New Jersey. New sirius channel, ch. 10, all Springsteen 24 hours a day!!!It is called E-Street Radio.

5) Black Or White - Michael Jackson
6) Pain Is So Close To Pleasure - Queen
7) Rhythm Of Love- Scorpions

Why the hell do I have Bryan Adams on my iPod?

X, Leasor has more music than God.

You joke about the Victrola...but I have one, one of those hand-cranked jobbies (I bought it off of Ron Palillo...remember him?...when he moved back to New york) and I have the 78 records to go with them...Anyone want to hear "Let Me Pet Your Poodle"...absolutely filthy!

But I went the internet radio route. Here's what I came up:

1)I Wonder What Became of Me
--Trinjntje Oosterhaus & Toots Thielemans--

2)I Wish You Love
--Blossom Dearie--

3) There'll Be Another Spring
--Dianne Reeves--

4)Close Your Eyes
--Peggy Lee--

5)The Lady Is A Tramp
--Tony Bennett--

6)This Can't Be Love
--Johnny Desmond--

7)Aren't You Glad You're You?
--Rosemary Clooney--

8)Just Look At Me Now
--Frank Sinatra--

9)Maybe You'll Be There
--Lee Wiley--

10)The Night We Called It A Day
--June Christy--

The discovery is "There'll Be Another Spring" by Dianne Reeves.

"Why the hell do I have Bryan Adams on my iPod?"

Cause a one point in time, he ROCKED! That's why...I'm more impressed with the lame, late 80's SCORPIONS tune...

Chuck,
I haven't heard about Toots Thielemana in years. He played on a big Billy Joel hit (LEAVE A TENDER MOMENT ALONE) way back in the 80's. He can't still be alive, can he?

...and am I to understand that you bought a Victorla from ARNOLD HORSESHACK???

Anonymous said...

Well, you're one up on me, I'd never heard of Toots Thieleman.

Yep, the Arnold Horseshack. He bought it from some posh Chicago Hotel where it had been in the lobby for years. But it was in excellent condition. Record players by this time had long stopped including 78rpm on their turntables, so I had to find something to play all those old Ink spot records. And, as Roger will tell, The Teddy Bears Picnic.

I think we also bought a craftsman lamp from Palillo. Some garage sale, let me tell you.

Anonymous said...

Chuck, my son LOVES the Teddy Bear's picnic. I'd love to hear a recording of that...

X, get Leasor to send you one of his famous Roger's Jukebox compiliation CDs. He once sent me one with about 25 different versions of THE TEDDY BEAR'S PICNIC. He did the same thing once with AS TIME GOES BY.

Rog's jukeboxes used to be great and wondrous things, but now he's got this damned i-pod with a zillion songs, so alas he just doesn't cut those CDs like he used. But if it wasn't for him, I'd have never heard SHE'S A BARREL-RACING ANGEL (nor have a jaw-dropping CD of Max Bygrave ditties).

I guess one doesn't "cut" a CD, but rather "burns" them. I may catch up with the lingo before I die.
