Easy. "Working". Okay, okay. So it was the only play I saw this year, but it was great!

Ummm...Rock and Roll by Tom Stoppard in London...

Dancing Henry Five at the DAC (produced by the Pick Up Performance Company)

Love's Labour's Lost at Equus Run...the risk worked and Tony's production was lovely...

Cymbeline at Cincy Shakes...

Exits and Entrances at AGL...

I vote Adam Luckey at the theatre person of the year for playing The Playwright in Exits and Entrances, Berowne in Love's Labour's and Hamlet at AGL...those are three major major roles and he was freakin' FEEEEEEENOMMMENNNALLLLL in all of them. That's a helluva calendar year for any actor!!

After doing Tartuffe, Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet, I am looking forward to 2008 when I can direct some plays were I understand what the hell everyone is saying...!!!

Peace
Rick

On a different note, but one that your pic reminds me of, I am also very proud of my talented wife for playing Casey in Anton and Gertrude in Hamlet this year, as well as coaching the dialects on Exits and Entrances and propping Love's Labour's...all the while running her own program at Sayre and dealing with two very active kids and a husband who ran off to Italy and Cincinnati this year. She is the shizznit and she doesn't get the credit she deserves for the talent she has...

That's all for now...

Peace
Rick

"Best of You" - Foo Fighters. Although, Prince did a right nice job of it at the Super Bowl.

Production-wise, I don't think I've seen anything that I wasn't designing for. So, I'm disqualified on all fronts.

Sorry, Rick, you saw Rock 'n' Roll in 2006.

I hate this question because it just reminds me that, were it not for my sick pup, I would be in London right now seeing great theatre.

I would go along with DANCING HENRY FIVE at the DAC; LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST at Equus Run; CYMBELINE, ROMEO & JULIET, and THE CHERRY ORCHARD at Cincy Shakes; and THE GOAT at The New Stage Collective. in

Ah, I just re-read Tim's Question: What I've seen in the last 12 months, so my London trip made the cut (technically, I don't think yours did, Rick)...Then I would have to add ROCK & ROLL by Stoppard; FROST/NIXON by Peter Morgan; THE 39 STEPS by Patrick Barlow; GATES OF GOLD by Frank McGuinness (all of the above in the West End); THE LIGHTNING PLAY by Charlotte Jones at the Almedia; THE SEAFARER by Conor McPherson; THERESE RAQUIN by Zola, adapted by Nicholas Wright, both at The ROYAL National; MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN by O'Neill with Kevin Spacey at The Old Vic; DON JUAN IN SOHO by Patrick Marber by way of Moliere.

The best I saw that wasn't mine?

Journey's End in NYC

The rest has been some rather mediocre college productions.

I did see Wicked in NYC, but alas aside form the spectacle it was a big waste of money.

Gotta admit I was really fond of ANTON IN SHOW BIZNESS at AGL- I've always been a "Jane Martin" fan, and I thought all the ladies did a tremendous job. Loved the minimal staging as well.

I also really liked PRIVATE EYES at Studio Players. I thought Bob, Haley and all the cast were fabulous. A really nice scenic and lighting design as well.

And Rick, lest we forget that forget that sandwiched in between those roles, Adam also managed to do the lead for me in BCTC's/ Studio's WORKING as well. Mike the steel worker may not rank up there with the melancholy Dane as far a plum parts go, but he did great job for me nonetheless.

Tim-

I knew he played the lead in Working but I was out of town when the show ran and missed it. By any accounts, he has had a helluva year and will also be playing Septimus in Arcadia for Ave in the spring.

Peace
Rick
