"Put me in, Coach!"

Greetings, all and a happy friday. Joy and I, along with my very cool in-laws, are moving into our new house! So, now I'm a home-owner...I had a really zen moment last night while moving some boxes in. I was standing in my backyard (which is really nice) and I said to myself, "This is MY backyard!" How bout that, huh? For those of you what are local, we'll probably have a house warming par-tay within the next few weeks. Stay tuned to this channel!
Anyhoo...gonna be a few days for all the stuff is in order, so I may be out of the loop for a bit. Thus, I'll leave you with this to ponder:

In honor of Andre Aggasi's awesome run at the US Open thus far...What's the GREATEST sports moment you've ever witnessed? Any sport you like (except soccer...not on MY blog, dammit!) whether you were actually there or saw it on the tube. Tell us about it...describe it...relive the moment!
No points for the reference...just too damned easy...

Getting to go to the 2002 World Series to see the Angels against the Giants. I don't remember which game it was or even who won, but it was an experience.

My business manager, a big sports nut, rented two stretch limos that took Drake, me, his dad (my first business manager), and a bunch of his other clients down to Anaheim and back. The whole thing was very first class.

I was also at a play-off game where Jack Clark's homer for the Giants (or was it St. Louis?) kept the Dodgers out of the series. As a man who went frequently to Dodger stadium to root against them, it was great seeing the fans' hopes dashed in their home field.

I went to opening day for my first Dodger game ever ('79?) and Cary Grant threw out the first pitch. Very cool. He often sat in the dugout at games.

Good luck, dude....and who knew anyone's greatest sports moment ould include Sid Bream???

$, I love the miracle, but I think, strangely enough, the second half of the Titans super bowl loss was a greater sports moment...but My God...ONE MORE DAMN YARD was all they needed!!!!

You mean Tom Benson? He owns the Saints...and please tell me you're not serious:)
I will never forget that MIRACLE game...after the Bills scored, I threw something at the screen and went to the fkitchen thinking it was over, then all of sudden I heard the announcer calling the game, saying something like"Wait a minute...he's got something here..." and I ran in just in time to hear "TOUCHDOWN TITANS!!! AND there are NO FLAGS!!!!!"
Great moment, $ ...you're right.

Hey now, the Vandy b-ball team DID have some great moments. I think it was their NCAA tourney run to the sweet 16 back in 88 when Barry Goheen won two games by drilling NBA-length 3 pointers, when if I remember right, all they needed in both instances was a two to tie...GUTSY!
Is Irwin really dead?

As a HUGE UK basketball fan.....I would say the year of the "comeback Cats"....the whole season was killer. Of course running around town after we won the 96 and 98 Nationals probably ranks the most high in my sports fandom....running around Lynagh's parking lot and dancing in the streets.

Greatest sports moment?

The '98 run to the championship is definitely near the top. Specifically, the moment Magloire put Wojo in the torture rack!

Yesterday's speech by Andre Agassi is up there for me as well. I was in a little shit hole diner watching the match on a 13 inch tv trying to hide my tears from the other patrons. I know, I'm pathetic.

Pete Rose's all-time hit record was a pretty big deal to this Cincy fan. Sorry, I think he should be in the hall of fame. He may be a yahoo; but he was a hellva ball player.

The comeback by UCLA in the elite 8 game last year. It blew my mind.

RIP Steve Irwin. I loved that guy. And his movie was great. It really was. I saw it on opening day and have the DVD. Clever, informative, and entertaining. And Terri was RIPPED! She could probably take any of us down. Nature conservation has lost one of its champions.

Just realized I haven't really listed mine, yet.
Back in the 92 Olympics, when the original Dream Team was tearing it up. It was such a thrill for me to see all these guys I had followed through the years playing together (Cept for Laetner...wtf?) on the same court. Not that the ball was very good. It was sorta akin to watching the Globetrotters embarass the Washiongton Generals night after night...anyhoo, I remember one particular game where the US was up by 50 some odd points... Magic and Bird were on the court together, and magic got a steal and drove the length of the court to deliver what you just KNEW would be a showtime-like dunk, but at the last second, in the air, he no-look passed the ball behind his head, and as the announcer called it (Marv Albert, no less)"...Magic goes up...dishes...and THERE'S BIRD!!!!" Bird then proceeds to drain the seweetes three pointer you ever saw. How Ervin knew Larry was trailing him I'll never really know, cause he damn sure wasn't looking. But the look on those guys faces said they had been waiting to hear" Magic to Bird" for as long as I had been waiting to see it! Pure Poetry! I'm gettin' goose bumps thinking about it...
